Russian Transport Minister Rules Out Superjet Grounding After Crash Kills 41

MOSCOW – Russia’s delivery minister stated there was no purpose in flooring the United States fleet of Sukhoi Superjet 100 planes as investigators tried to determine what pressured a jet to make an emergency landing and burst into flames, killing 41 humans.

Speaking to newshounds on May 6, Yevgeny Dietrich also stated that the bodies of the 41 folks who died inside the May 5 crash at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport were recovered.

He said 33 passengers and four teams survived, adding that six survivors had been in a critical situation.

Flight SU1492, operated by national airline Aeroflot, took off from Sheremetyevo and headed for Murmansk’s northern metropolis, sporting 73 passengers and 5 group contributors when it changed into pressured to show round.

The video showed the plane making a tough touchdown at Sheremetyevo, bouncing, then rushing alongside a runway, with flames and black smoke pouring from its fuselage.

Asked by journalists at a news convention if the Sukhoi planes should be grounded pending the final results of the research, Ditrikh spoke back: “There aren’t any grounds for that.”

Meanwhile, the Investigative Committee stated each flight recorder from the jet had been recovered. Spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said investigators are searching into three important feasible causes of the catastrophe: insufficiently professional pilots, air-traffic controllers, or technicians who examined the aircraft; a defective plane; and awful climate.

The aircraft took off from Sheremetyevo airport but was pressured to show returned because of unspecified “technical reasons,” in step with Aeroflot. The enterprise stated that the aircraft’s engines stuck fireplace on the airport’s runway after making an emergency landing — no longer in midair as to start with reported.

In an audio recording published by Russian media, a man identified as the pilot, Denis Yevdokimov, said the aircraft was struck using lightning, inflicting problems with systems onboard and interrupting communications with the floor.

The audio seemed to reveal Yevdokimov announcing that the book carried out the return and landing but that the jet stuck the fireplace after it hit the floor. Footage of the crash-landing showed the plane bouncing numerous instances after first touching down.

Passengers were also quoted as pronouncing that the jet was struck by lightning at some point in a thunderstorm. Storms were passing through the Moscow vicinity at the time.

The Flightradar24 tracking carrier confirmed that the aircraft circled around Moscow twice and landed in the air after approximately forty-five minutes.

Interfax information agency reported that the aircraft failed in its first attempt to land as it was still traveling rapidly. Then, its automatic system failed on the second technique, forcing the pilot into a hard touchdown.

Videos on social media show passengers leaping down the plane’s inflatable evacuation slides and strolling across the airport’s tarmac and grass, a few with their baggage in hand.

“We started to land, and the whole thing took place right now, immediately,” survivor Maria Sitnikova instructed Russian media outlet Snob.

“There was one very effective blow — my eyes almost popped out — then a second one, a touch softer, a 3rd, after which smoke, and the whole thing started to burn,” said Sotnikova, who said she become in row 10.

She said she saw no panicked stampede while passengers were exiting the aircraft– “best smoke”- however, it regarded people in seats in the direction of the rear as having little danger of survival.

“I began asking all of us, but we didn’t see everyone from the tail, the various survivors. They had no manner out,” Sitnikova said.
