BENGALURU: Savita Mohan has spent the past few days practicing for an upcoming fashion show, her first one. But greater than nervousness, the 60-yr-antique is more intrigued than whatever. “It’s fun to just attempt a brand new revel in,” she said with a smile.
Mohan will be joined by the thirteen others from the Silver Surfers Club for senior citizens who might be taking walks on the ramp at JD Institute of Fashion’s Annual Awards 2019 on the Lalit Ashok on May four. The institute selected to collaborate with seniors to interrupt stereotypes about the style belonging handiest to the younger.
Monisha Amarnath, a third-year style scholar at the institute who has been designing the garments for the event, stated, “There is a difference about designing clothes for the senior residents because they select secure apparel. They opt for lightweight and breathable fabrics.”
Working with senior citizens is far from dull, although, stated Pragti Vernekar, a third-year pupil. “They are open to new style tendencies and don’t mind experimenting. They sense like they’re as crazy of their 70s as they had been of their 20s,” she delivered.
For seventy-four-12 months of vintage Arun Malhotra, fashion shows are nothing new. As a Navy veteran, stage performances and style shows have been part of the social curriculum.
“But doing it in my mid-seventies is lots extra thrilling. I would love to attempt something new. The pleasant part is that this spreads the message that age is by no means a barrier. So, it’s not only a monotonous ramp stroll,” he stated.
